Editor's Verdict: BiCupid.com, in contrast to more or less all of the other sites reviewed in this category, is a dating site devoted to bi-sexual and bi-curious guys and girls. It seeks to match those looking to make friends, no-strings fun or a more serious, committed relationship. It's not the flashiest looking site out there, and you may get slightly confused by the rather cluttered layout, especially when you first sign up. Registering as a member of BiCupid.com is free, and takes just a few minutes of your time. You just need to give a few details and provide a valid email address. One of the problems here is that you are asked whether you are interested in meeting bi-men, women or couples but you're only only allowed to select one category. However, once registered this does not prevent you from searching for members who fall into alternative categories. Once your membership account has been created, you're free to browse the site and check out other member profiles. If you're serious about getting the most out of the site, there are three things you really need to consider. The first is that you should take the time to create as detailed a profile as necessary, and upload as many photos as you can (up to 27). Secondly, make sure that you verify your membership, which basically involves contacting the site and following a few simple steps to authenticate your profile. That way, those browsing your membership know it's really you. Problem is, as on any free dating site, you'll find plenty of time wasters, so verifying your membership counts for a lot. Finally, if you can stretch to paying for Gold membership, which is quite reasonablly priced, especially if you sign up for 6 months, you get lots more useful features. For example, as a free member you're unable to initiate email contact with other members, however, you can send free 'winks'. Being a Gold member also means that you get more advanced search options to find exactly what you want, plus, your profile appears at the top of searches. As with any bi-sexual dating site, you'll discover a wide range of males, females and couples here. Whilst it's unclear how many active members there are on the site, most are based in the USA. The profiles on BiCupid.com are fairly detailed and it's nice that even free members are able to click on photos to see them enlarged. There are lots of profiles without pictures, which seems to be an indication of false or inactive profiles or time-wasters. Whereas you can search only for profiles with pictures as a Gold member, as a free member you'll have to trawl through all of the dross. It's quite easy to take account of who's accessed your profile. As a free member you can see a record of who's chatted with you, winked, emailed and requested your photo. Gold members are able to see who's visited their profile, who's interested in you and any compatible matches based on your profile data. Another nice feature is that you can add comments to thr profiles you view, which only you can see. This helps when reviewing your contacts, as does creating a favorites list. It's possible to contact other members in a number of ways, most commonly using email and online chat (instant messager). Remember that, as a free member, you can only reply to emails, not initiate contact. However, you can send winks. The online chat feature was very quiet when this review was performed, making the experience of meeting and chatting with other bi-sexual males and females distinctly underwhelming. One of the biggest problems here is the site's tendency to try to create a singular sense of community for the bi-sexual community. However, it doesn't really feel like a community site, given that bi-sexual members are a more eclectic bunch than homosexual or heterosexual communities. Compared to a lot of other sites, there is an impressive variety of search tools at your disposal, even as a free member. This is important given the sheer variety of males, females and couples signed up. Again, upgrading your membership is a good idea as it allows you to pinpoint others more efficiently. One problem here though is that there isn't a filter to screen profiles on the basis of the time they were last accessed, which is a good way of cutting out inactive profiles (an important consideration being a free site). Aside from dating, there are a few other features too. It's possible to read and post items on the BiCupid.com member forums and blogs (regardless of level of membership). To watch member-uploaded video content you'll have to upgrade. What you'll find is typically fairly mundane, sexually explicit content. If you're a Gold member, you'll also have access to the 'daily bisexual news' (whatever that means) and articles on dating tips and advice, which you might find useful. The site support compares well with other sites. As a free member you can use the 24/7 helpline or email the support desk. As a Gold member you can resolve your question or problem immediately using live chat support. There's also a comprehensive FAQs section. BiCupid.com packs in quite a lot of features, even for free members, all of which should help you to hook up with other guys or girls online or in real life. It might not look the greatest, but once you get used to finding your way around you'll considerably improve your chances of finding a date (or two), whether you're looking for guys, girls, couples or all of these.
