GCruise.com is a good-looking site and has most of the features you'd expect to see on a gay dating site. For example, it's possible to communicate via email, in chat rooms and instant messager. You can also access video chat and receive SMS alerts on your mobile (US only). Whilst it doesn't have quite as many members as some of the other gay dating sites reviewed in this category, it's easy to navigate and large enough so that your chances of finding a date are good.

Signing up to GCruise.com takes just a couple of minutes. All you need is a valid email address and a few moments to give a few details about yourself. Once you're registered you get immediate access to many of the site's features. You'll see that there are over a million members, although do bear in mind that a significant number of these profiles will be inactive. There were a couple of thousand members online at the time of this review and the site appears to have grown significantly, indicating its increasing popularity. You should find it fairly easy to become accustomed to using the site. There are tabs for all of the main features at the top of the homepage and everything is laid out fairly clearly.

As a free member you're still able to use a number of main features. For example, you can browse profiles without restriction, perform advanced searches and flirt with other members. Rather than simply winking or smiling at other members to indicate your interest, GCruise.com allows you select one of fifteen different one-line emails. Example of these include 'I'd love to have you as MY workout partner', or 'Hey stud, check out my profile. I'd love to get to know you better'. Unfortunately, this is the only way of communicating with other members if you have a free membership. To access email, chat rooms and instant messager you'll need to upgrade your membership. Once you've upgraded, it's possible to communicate more freely. The profiles themselves are fairly informative and the quality of photos is good. You can even post comments on the member's profile if you're a Gold or Silver member. If you upgrade you'll also be able to enjoy members' sexually explicit private pictures.

In addition to emailing members you can also meet people in the chat rooms and text, audio or video chat. Some can be quite busy, though you'll often find some chat rooms that are very quiet or even empty. If you have a webcam its possible to see others as you chat. You can also chat publicly or go private with another member. You'll find a range of chat rooms, mostly sexually explicit where members spend time flashing their private parts. You'll find busier chat rooms on other sites (e.g. OutPersonals.com), but they can still provide a fun diversion. Nonetheless, you'll need to upgrade in order to access this feature. If you are thinking of upgrading you could save yourself a few dollars and just go for the SIlver membership. You'll get unlimited communication and access to all member photos with SIlver membership and the extras you get with Gold membership aren't really worth paying the extra money for. GCruise.com doesn't have an online magazine section, like most of the larger gay dating sites do, but it doesn't miss much else. If you have any questions or problems, you'll find a comprehensive FAQs section and an email support form, should you not find the answer you're looking for.

On balance, GCruise.com has come on considerably in recent times. Whilst you're able to look around as a free member, you won't get any dates this way and will need to upgrade if you wish to do so. Whilst you're likely to make contacts and have fun on the site, if you're really serious about hooking up with other gay guys, or looking for more of a relationship you should try one of the top-rated gay dating sites such as Gay.com or Outpersonals.com.
