GayCupid.com is a gay dating site that's full of features to help you in your quest for a date, friendship or meeting someone to live happily ever after with. The site is simple to get to grips with because it's well designed. As well as getting the things you'd expect on a dating site, you also get some fairly advanced features, for example, voice and video messaging and video chat rooms. It's also a much-improved site and it's great to see that the glitches that were identified in our last review have been addressed.

It's free to join the site and set up a standard membership. It takes a few minutes to complete the online application form. You'll also need a valid email address in order to validate your membership. You can also upload a picture at this time, but you can do this later if you'd prefer. Once you're registered you can get a good idea of what's on offer. As a free member you can create a profile, browse the profiles of other members, flirt with them and receive messages from paying members. As with a lot of other gay dating sites (but not all, e.g. GayCanada.com), you can't enter into free communication via email nor can you use the instant messager feature or access the chat rooms. Therefore, if you find that you like the site and want to contact other members then you'll have to upgrade. It isn't the cheapest gay dating site around, nor is it the biggest. Think very carefully before you upgrade and make sure that you try one or two other sites for comparison. Gay.com, OutPersonals.com and AdultFriendFinder.com are three sites you really should have a look at if you're serious about resurrecting your love life (or simply spicing it up a bit).

Thankfully, you can use the advanced search as a free member and you'd be well advised to search to see if there are members in your area. If not, it's probably time to look elsewhere, unless you're in the market for some online fun. However, the site's chat rooms are fairly quiet compared to those of, say, OutPersonals.com. But, at the end of the day it's your dime. One positive change since the last time this site was reviewed is that you can now search within nearly all countries rather than being limited to four (USA, UK, Canada, Australia). In addition, the location search now allows you search by region and by proximity from major towns and cities. In short, the search tools have been improved and are more comprehensive and sophisticated. Is this indicative of the upward trajectory of the site? Perhaps. Despite such improvements, it's a shame that you'll find relatively few members online when you login (13 at the time of this review). Whilst it's fair to say that the site deserves to be better supported, the best advice is that you join as a free member and wait a while before you commit to a subscription-based membership. In terms of other features, there are video and photo galleries (subscription required for full access), and you can also send video mail if you have a Platinum membership. You'll also be able to do the usual things, such as creating a favorites list and checking who's visited your profile and registered an interest in you. There's also a great FAQs section in case you get stuck and email support should you need it.

In summary, GayCupid.com is a great little gay dating site, but sadly let down by its small active membership base. However, keep an eye on this site as it has the potential to mount a serious challenge to the current top sites if it can just boost its membership base. There's nothing to stop you supporting the site by signing up for free, although you'll be very limited in terms of communicating with other members. Nonetheless, one to watch for the future.
