GayDating does exactly what it says on the label, it’s a no nonsense site for single gay men to find each other in order to chat, hook up, date or more. Whilst it’s hardly the most exciting or revolutionary site around it’s not half bad, offering a decent search option and enough members to keep you satisfied.

It’s hard to be blown away by this site on first impressions. The user interface is somewhat haphazard, with a lot of hyperlinks and options to upgrade. However if you know where to look it does provide a decent range of useful information, such as how many messages you have, new members, who is on the instant messenger service, who has been viewing you and featured members. The profiles themselves are somewhat list-like, with vital statistics (body measurements) taking up a lot of the space. Whilst you can include your own thoughts in the “in my own words” section, there are no prompts as to what sort of things to comment on so most of the profiles simply say “hi I’m x” rather than anything really revealing or interesting. To improve on this element the site could consider having pre-set questions for people to respond to, or simply more fun information than body facts.

Photos tend to be of a fairly low quality and few members have several photos to explore. You can, however, “like” a photo, much in the same way that you can like something on Facebook, which provides an indirect way of showing someone you’re interested in them. You can also achieve this by sending flirts, or if you’re really love-struck then you can send a gift. You pay for gifts using tokens, which are purchased like a sort of on-site credit.

The search options on this site are potentially one of its greatest features, with plenty of options to choose from which range from physical attributes to education and career. This gives more opportunities to find a match based on your lifestyle and beliefs, as well as looks. We got a decent number of search results when we performed a basic search, and when we logged in there were over 400 men online, many of whom were fairly close to our location. This means that the users are active and willing to chat, which is a good sign as often on dating sites a lot of members simply create an account and then disappear.

Overall GayDating is a decent site, but it simply cannot compete or compare with the sites in our top 10. An increased range of features and better website design may lure in more members. It might be worth taking a look, though, as you might find a man or two with whom you hit it off, and the free trial offers enough search options to allow you a decent glimpse into the site’s usefulness.
