Recon has some good points. You don’t have to pay anything to sign up and use recon. You can browse (20) profiles, send and receive messages, and perform (limited) searches. There are easy to use block and report functions for (dodgy) profiles.
The annoying.
There are some fake profiles, not as many as some of the reviews suggest. You can spot them right away because they want you to talk on WhatsApp or something. This happens on all sites and some are much worse.
They do suspend you without warning. As another reviewer said, if you try to be honest and up front, say about having had a profile before, you might find yourself suspended. I’d been a member for over ten years and was suddenly blocked from accessing my account, support were not helpful.
The two worst things about recon also apply to other ‘dating’ apps, but with recon it’s worse.
Photos. People who don’t show even a body part. They show photos of their gear or of people they’ve played with or even cartoons, but don’t show even a headless photo of themselves. Old photos. And I mean really old. I’m reviewing at the start of 2024. A friend on recon has photos from 2007, I know because I took them! People have photos from 10, even 20 years ago, because they look good I suppose. This might explain why people are so reluctant to meet! Perhaps there should be yearly reminders for members to update their photos!
Interaction. Recon is a dud for interacting with others. Maybe if you have those amazing 20 year old photos… Having rejoined recon after being suspended I think I’ve had two people look at my profile. Perhaps I’m elephant man ugly or my fetishes aren’t extreme enough. So you have to be pretty aggressive at looking at profiles and ‘cruising’ people. Honestly, you might as well use Facebook and join a few fetish groups. I rejoined Facebook after a break, and in a month I’ve had more friend requests and interaction than I used to get in a year of being on recon.
So overall, there’s no harm in trying recon to see if it works for you, but I think there are much better options for meeting or simply connecting with like minded men.
In summary, I would recommend Recon to a friend.
