OnlyLads is a basic dating website for gay and bisexual men who are looking for a date in their area. There’s a particular focus on mobile devices, making it a great resource when you’re on the move, although the system is at times overly simplistic and as such restricts what you are able to do.

What’s particularly impressive is that this site offers a free 10 day premium membership which allows you to contact other guys with ease. Thereafter you have to pay for the benefit, although even then this site is cheaper than most. Premium members are able to upload high definition photos, view unlimited profiles, send unlimited messages, see who has visited their profile and perform more customised searches. Meanwhile, basic users are limited in each of those benefits, but they are all still available. Subsequently you can use OnlyLads for free, but to get the most out of it you’ll have to upgrade to a paid membership package.

As we said, the site is quite limited in some areas. In particular the search options are very restrictive and the site tends to work on more of a “recommendations” basis than allowing you to openly search for particular traits or life style choices. This does make for a more mobile-happy user experience, but if you’re trying to complete a more in depth search for your perfect guy then it’s not really possible.

A decent number of the men on this site have taken the time and effort to complete their profile, including decent photos. Users can create private photo albums which allow them to keep a few special (dare we say ‘adult’) photos in a secret folder which can be shared with individuals who you think will most appreciate its contents.

The site really needs more features to improve. There are really no reasons why the site couldn’t have a better search function, or even video and audio options so that users can communicate with each other through more than just email-like messages. Live chat doesn’t even feature, so conversations can become easily stilted and you’ll find yourself waiting a long time for responses with nothing else to entertain you in the meantime.

Overall this could be a great site if you want to find men whilst on the move. However it is quite restrictive and would benefit from some extra features. You can get a free trial period with the few bells and whistles the site has to offer, so why not see if it’s one for you?
